ANNELIZE CLAASSENS
Senior Therapist
I studied at Stellenbosch University and graduated with an Honours degree in 2011. There after I completed my Community Service year in the Northern Cape where I had the opportunity to start and manage a speech therapy department. There I had the opportunity to work in different settings (clinic, hospitals and schools) and realised my passion for paediatric speech therapy.
I started my own private practice in Aliwal North where my main focus was early intervention and school aged children. I have a passion for reading and spelling therapy and did extra training in this area. I am a qualified Read for Africa phonografix reading therapist and also a dyslexia specialist.
After 5 years of enjoying my own practice, I relocated to Cape Town and had my beautiful twins (Lisa and Henri). In 2018 I joined forces with Ivette Weyers and we have since been working together as Speech Therapists at ‘Little Figures of Speech’.
IVETTE WEYERS
Senior Therapist
I obtained my Honours degree in Speech Therapy from Stellenbosch University in 2011. During my community service year in the Eastern Cape, I worked in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics and schools. My primary focus, however, was on working with the paediatric population. In 2013, I relocated to Cape Town, where I’ve been working in private practice ever since. Though I have experience with the assessment and treatment of many speech and language disorders, I am particularly passionate about auditory processing disorders, fluency, phonological disorders and language impairments of pre-school and school-aged children. Playing a part in a child’s progress and celebrating that progress is especially gratifying to me. Annelize Claassens and I have been working together at Little Figures of Speech since 2018.
